Appreciated the charm of the amazing northern Vietnam, the Vietnam Authentic Northern Charm tour is for the wishes to not only explore the rich history, admire the magnificent nature, but interact with friendly locals and ethnic minority as well.
Tour Duration: 8 Days /7 Nights
Day 1: Hanoi
Upon arrival in Hanoi, and after clearing passport control, customs and collecting your luggage, you will be warmly greeted and transferred by your own private coach to your hotel in Hanoi to check in. After a short rest, you will enjoy a 1-hour cyclo tour of the French inspired "old quarter" passing through boutique stores and amazing contemporary art galleries amongst many other historical monuments. You will then have dinner at a traditional local restaurant before heading back to your hotel for your first night’s stay in beautiful Hanoi.
Day 2: Hanoi Moon Garden Home stay
Hanoi – Moon Garden Home stay
After enjoying breakfast at your hotel you will set off to enjoy a majestic home stay at Moon Garden which is located at Ky Son Village. Arriving mid-morning you will be welcomed with some locally grown freshly prepared green tea, and then have some free time to explore Moon Garden and Ky Son village.
You will then have the opportunity to experience a cooking class and have for lunch the traditional Vietnamese food that you have prepared your selves. After lunch experience a traditional hand spa; having our hands dipped in a fragrant bowl of lime and traditional herbs and then massaged.
You will then travel a short distance by bicycle to discover the Ky Son, Tam Son, Van Minh, and Cham farming communities. These are fascinating communities and you will have an opportunity to converse with local families learning about their daily lives.
There will also be opportunities to help with plowing or making rice breads, transplanting seedlings and harvesting rice, cassava, corn or sweet potatoes (depending on the harvest season). You will also collect tea and some medicinal herbs which are needed for your steam bath later in the afternoon and your foot “spa” in the late evening.
In the early evening you will return to Moon Garden for some refreshing afternoon drinks while waiting for your steam baths to be prepared. After your steam bath you will observe the local Buddha worship, followed by dinner. After dinner you will enjoy a foot bath in warm water with ginger, salt and mugwort medicinal herbs before retiring for the evening.
Day 3: Ky Son - Hanoi - Sapa
Ky Son – Hanoi – Sapa - This morning you will take some traditional exercises to work up an appetite before breakfast. You will then hop back on your bikes to visit other local villages before returning to Ky Son village for lunch. You will then spend some time relaxing in the village before departing for Hanoi.
On arrival in Hanoi you will enjoy an early dinner before catching the overnight sleeper train ride to Lao Cai, Sapa.
On arrival into Lao Cai Station in the early morning, you will transfer to Sapa for a trek, where you will enjoy spectacular scenery as you head to the Y Linh Ho, the village of the Hmong people.
After lunch, you will head to the Muong Hoa Valley, on the way passing through the villages of Lao Chai and Ta Van where you will have an opportunity to meet some of the locals.
You will also visit Lao Chai Primary School where you can interact with the students and share some activities with them. This evening you will enjoy a homestay at one of the hill tribe villages.
Homestays are a great way to get a feel for the culture and really understand more about the daily lives of the local people. A common saying is: 'you will arrive as a guest but leave as a friend'.
Day 5: Sapa – Lao Cai – Hanoi
You will enjoy breakfast with your hosts before bidding them farewell. Before lunch your tour will take you to Giang Ta Chai village of the Red Dao minority people, you will also trek through a bamboo forest and pass by a majestic waterfall where you will have time to take some rest and enjoy the amazing surroundings. After lunch, you will continue toward Su Pan Village where you will start your journey back to Sapa by your private vehicle and then spend the remainder of the afternoon at leisure before returning to Lao Cai to board the overnight train back to Hanoi.
Day 6: Hanoi – Halong
After your overnight journey to Hanoi you will set off to the ‘Jewel in the Crown of Vietnam’; Halong Bay. Arriving before lunch you will board your boat and then set sail, cruising amongst thousands of extraordinary limestone karst formations. Halong Bay was voted one of ‘The New 7 Wonders of Nature’ in 2011, and once here you will know why it was included in this group.
On arrival in Halong, you will have a short cruise briefing. Before setting sail on the V’Spirit Classic Cruise. You will then savor a delectable lunch while V’Spirit Classic cruises among the limestone islands. In the mid-afternoon, you will kayak among the hidden areas of the bay, around the Bo Nau Cave area before going back to the V’Spirit Classic and continue cruising to Soi Sim Island. You can go swimming and relax at the beach of Soi Sim or climb up to the top of the island for a panorama view of Halong Bay.
In the evening, you will cruise back to the main boat for a shower before having dinner and spend the night onboard.
Day 7: Halong – Hanoi
Today you will wake up early in the morning and start your day with Tai Chi exercises or a photo hunt before enjoying your breakfast.
After breakfast you will explore the amazing Sung Sot Cave – the nicest cave in Halong Bay.
You will then return to your boat to freshen up and check out of your cabin.
You will continue your cruise exploring the Bay, passing Ba Hang fishing village, Dog Islet, and much more. While heading back to the harbor, watch a cooking demonstration before enjoying a traditional Vietnamese lunch. You will disembark at round noon and find your private vehicle waiting to take you back to Hanoi. In the evening you will enjoy dinner at a local restaurant before staying over for your last night at your Hanoi Hotel.
Day 8: Hanoi departure
After breakfast you will have free time to explore a little more of Hanoi and perhaps buy some souvenirs before your vehicle and guide arrives to escort you back to Hanoi Airport for your flight back to the UAE.
