Uganda, a country renowned for its diverse landscapes, rich culture, and welcoming people. During this action-packed trip, you'll have the unique opportunity to volunteer in community construction or building projects in the Mukono Region. This hands-on experience allows you to contribute directly to community initiatives, offering you a deeper understanding of local development efforts. Beyond the work, you'll immerse yourself in Ugandan culture by meeting local people, learning about their way of life, and experiencing the communal spirit that defines this vibrant country. The adventure continues as you visit Ngamba Island, home to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, where you can witness the conservation efforts for these fascinating primates up close. Itinerary
Day 1
Upon your arrival in Entebbe, your journey begins with a warm welcome from your group leader, followed by a transfer to Mukono. You'll settle into your accommodations and later in the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner coupled with an informative briefing/orientation from the local team.
Day 2 – Day 4 - Project Engagement
The schedule for these days is as follows:
Breakfast is from 7 am to 9 am.
On the first day, from 8 am to 9 am, the coordinator will provide an orientation about the project.
Project activities run from 9:30 am to 1 pm, followed by a lunch break until 2:30 pm, and then more project work until 4:30 pm.
Evening activities for relaxation and enjoyment are from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm, after which you'll return to your accommodation for dinner until 9:00 pm.
During this period, you'll collaborate with local community members, builders, and engineers on construction sites for classrooms or community resource centers. These projects aim to enhance the lives and infrastructures of Ugandan communities by improving educational facilities and access to clean water.
Your participation might include site preparation, building efforts, or community beautification projects. Evening hours offer a chance for relaxation, engaging in local sports, card games, board games, or cultural activities.
Day 5
The hard work transitions into exploration with a city tour of Kampala, Uganda’s vibrant capital. You'll visit historical and cultural landmarks, including the Gaddafi Mosque, Buganda Kingdom palace, Kasubi Tombs, and the Uganda National Museum. The tour provides a deep dive into Uganda's rich heritage and bustling present.
Day 6
The adventure continues with a tour to Ngamba Island to visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Here, you'll learn about and contribute to the conservation of chimpanzees, sharing close encounters and feeding opportunities with these remarkable primates. The trip to the island is a chance to immerse yourself in Uganda’s natural beauty and wildlife conservation efforts.
Day 7
Your final day involves packing memories along with your belongings as you check out of your accommodation. Reflecting on the impactful work and unforgettable experiences, you'll transfer back to Entebbe to catch your flight back to Dubai, marking the end of a remarkable journey in Uganda.
