Itinerary
Day 1 - Wednesday, June 5, 2024
Upon landing at Colombo airport, a driver will greet you for a private transfer to your accommodation in Galle. Post check-in, the remainder of the day is yours to relax. The evening holds a welcome dinner for the group.
Day 2 - Thursday, June 6, 2024
Start the day with breakfast at the hotel. Then, head out for a training and orientation session which covers an introduction to Sri Lanka, cultural insights, and project-specific training. This is followed by a tour around Galle and Unawatuna to get familiar with the area. Return to your hotel early in the evening.
Day 3 - Friday, June 7, 2024
After breakfast, embark on a guided tour of the historic Galle Dutch Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site, to delve into Sri Lanka's colonial and cultural past. In the afternoon, volunteer at a local kindergarten, engaging in educational and fun activities with the children, assisted by local teachers and coordinators. Activities range from arts and crafts to storytelling and outdoor games. Return to your accommodation in the evening.
Day 4 - Saturday, June 8, 2024
Post breakfast, visit a prominent Buddhist temple for a cultural session, including a temple tour, a history overview, and a meditation session led by a senior monk. In the afternoon, continue your volunteer work at the kindergarten, adding new activities to the mix. Head back to your hotel afterward.
Day 5 - Sunday, June 9, 2024
The day begins with breakfast, followed by a beach cleanup activity to help preserve the local marine ecosystem. In the afternoon, proceed with another engaging session at the kindergarten before returning to your accommodation.
Day 6 - Monday, June 10, 2024
After breakfast, enjoy a group surfing lesson with qualified instructors or opt for a yoga class as an alternative. Both activities are great ways to immerse yourself in the local culture. In the afternoon, conduct the final session at the kindergarten, which will include a showcase by the children and interaction with their parents, ending with the distribution of educational gifts.
Day 7 - Tuesday, June 11, 2024
Following breakfast, engage in a tree planting activity as part of environmental conservation efforts. The afternoon is free for personal exploration or relaxation after a fulfilling week of volunteering and activities.
Day 8 - Thursday, June 12, 2024
Choose between a visit to the tea plantations to learn about the tea industry or a trip to a sea turtle hatchery to engage in conservation work. Both options offer a unique insight into Sri Lankan culture and environmental efforts.
Day 9 - Friday, June 13, 2024
Option to go on a wildlife Jeep Safari at Yala National Park or an educational hike in Sinharaja Forest Reserve, both offering unique opportunities to explore Sri Lanka's natural beauty and wildlife.
Day 10 - Saturday, June 14, 2024
After breakfast, enjoy a free day for personal exploration or last-minute shopping before your departure to the airport for your flight home.
